Who was Louis van Gaal’s first wife Fernanda Obbes?
Fernanda Obbes was the first wife of the well-known Dutch football manager Louis van Gaal. According to the report, Van Gaal met Fernanda Obbes at the age of 18 at a Catholic youth group and the two love birds got married 3 years later when Van Gaal was only 21 years old and was blissfully happy.
The two live happily together and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters namely Brenda and Renate. Sadly, in 1994 Obbes became ill and the doctors discovered that the patient had liver and pancreatic cancer. Van Gaal had access to all of the best doctors and surgeons as the president of Holland’s largest football team, yet nothing could be done.
Instead, Van Gaal was presented with issues he couldn’t control. While he did his best to care for his wife in private, he had to maintain strict discipline in public as Dutch fans mocked their situation. In the house he now shares with his second wife, Truus, there is still a photograph of Fernanda.
