Chido Nwokocha had initially started a career in football and attended Ohio University where he played college football. He played the position of a wild receiver for Ohio, and after college, he played professionally for the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League. His football career was cut short by a knee injury. With an injury to nurse, he decided to forgo football totally and pursued an acting career instead.

Mr. and Mrs. Nwokocha did not leave their children back in Nigeria before coming for them. They believed in sticking together and had moved their entire family of seven to the United States.
