Canadian director James Francis Cameron CC was born on August 16, 1954.

He originally came to prominence for writing and directing The Terminator, a science fiction and epic movie (1984). Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), and the action comedy True Lies helped Cameron continue to enjoy success (1994). In addition, he co-wrote and directed the films Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009). He won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Film Editing for Titanic. He received nominations in the same categories for the 3D movie Avatar.
