Gallagher passed away on Friday at his home in Palm Springs, California. He was one of the most well-known comedians of the 1980s for his wild performance, which typically ended with his smashing a watermelon with a sledgehammer. He was 76.

His former manager, Craig Marquardo, confirmed his passing and stated that the cause was organ failure following “many heart attacks” over Mr Gallagher’s life.

Gallagher, the self-described “Wizard of Odd,” believed his role was to “yell at the world.” Gallagher’s first name was Leo, although he withheld it for many years.

Mr Gallagher gave himself as an ecstatic escape from life’s stresses to the thousands of his front-row followers who were honoured, or at least not overtly insulted, by being pelted with cantaloupes, cottage cheese, and a variety of other foodstuffs.
