He assisted Ralston Valley in advancing to the state semifinals during his senior season. Skipper was given a lot of scholarship opportunities, but he ultimately chose the University of Arkansas.

Skipper participated in all twelve of the Razorbacks’ contests as a rookie, starting eight of them.

A single-season school record for blocked field goal tries, he stopped three of them. He received the All-American Consensus honour. Skipper started all 13 of the team’s games as a sophomore and was named an honourable mention for the Associated Press All-SEC team
