The famous Leighton Vander Esch is an American football linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He played college football at Boise State and was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

In the week 1 season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, Vander Esch recorded two combined tackles in the first half before leaving the game with a broken collarbone. The next day it was announced that he would undergo another surgery and was placed on injured reserve on September 15.
