He attended Oklahoma and Ohio State during his collegiate football careers before being selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Sermon participated in all 14 games while a true freshman at Oklahoma in 2017 and made three starts. He ran for 744 yards and five touchdowns on 121 carries to conclude the season.
In 2020, Sermon transferred to Ohio State University to pursue a graduate degree. Sermon’s 331 running yards in the 2020 Big Ten Championship Game versus Northwestern University were a record for an Ohio State player and the most ever in a Football Bowl Subdivision championship game.
