Jerry Ray Hughes Jr., an American football defensive end with the Houston Texans of the National Football League, was born on August 13, 1988.
He was a consensus All-American twice while playing college football for Texas Christian University (TCU), and the Indianapolis Colts selected him in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Where did Jerry Hughes go to high school?
The NFL star attended Austin High School.
While playing running back at Austin High School in Fort Bend County, Texas, Hughes earned three varsity football letters. Hughes earned first-team All-District 20-5A honours as a senior in 2006 by rushing for 1,412 yards and scoring a total of 19 touchdowns.
As a kick returner, Hughes was also named to the First Team All-District. Hughes earned a letter in baseball as well, where he pitched and played third base.
Hughes failed to garner much interest and only received a small number of scholarship offers after graduating from high school.
He was rated merely a two-star recruit by the recruiting website Rivals.com. He chose TCU over North Texas, Iowa State, and Arizona State.
