Christian Benford was raised in Randallstown, Maryland, and was born there on September 21, 2000.
He was a Randallstown High School student. He represented Maryland in the Big 33 Football Classic there, and during his senior year, he was chosen All-Metro and All-Baltimore County.
He turned down an invitation from Morgan State to play collegiate football at Villanova University after high school in order to play for the Villanova wildcats.
As a true freshman, he played in nine games with eight starts. In addition, he was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Rookie of the Year and third-team All-CAA.
He was selected first-team All-CAA during his junior year, however, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the season was cut short and played in the spring of 2021.
The Buffalo Bills picked him in the sixth round, 185th overall, of the 2022 NFL Draft.
