George Ward, better known by his stage name Cherry Valentine, died at the age of 28.

The celebrity died on Sunday.

He rose to prominence after appearing in the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK before embarking on a television career.

“It is with the most heartbreaking and deepest grief to notify you that beloved George – Cherry Valentine – has unfortunately died away,” his family wrote in a statement.

Ward was up in the traveling community in Darlington, northeast England, and began doing drag as a youngster.

In 2020-2021, he starred in six episodes of the show, which airs on BBC Three. He defined his alter persona Cherry Valentine as “everything” in his debut video, stating, “She is glamour, she’s club kid, she’s dark, she’s gothic.”

Ward worked as a mental health nurse before participating in “Drag Race.” He worked in immunization units during the Covid-19 epidemic.
